Secrets of the Manatee Book Talk
Cost:Â $5.00 Members / $7.00 Non-Members
Speaker: Diane Morgan
Come to the magical, mystical manatee tour! Mistaken for mermaids, eaten by pioneers, and captivating nature lovers everywhere, the endearing manatee is possibly the world’s most misunderstood and underestimated creature. They’ve been called stupid, fat, non-native, slow, and graceless. None of this is true! Discover the strange myths and uncover the stranger truths about our state marine mammal: solid bones, marching molars, and clutching flippers. We’ll also discuss their current conservation status and discuss the safeguards for human-manatee interactions.
Diane Morgan is an adjunct professor of English at IRSC and adjunct professor of philosophy at Wilson College.
