McKee Botanical Garden will host its 14th Annual Waterlily Celebration on Saturday, June 16, 2018. Come enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the Garden during this special time of year. Waterlilies have been McKee’s most striking plant collection from its onset in the 1930s. McKee’s current collection consists of over 80 species of waterlilies and over 300 potted and 100 free-range plants. These majestic plants bring color in flowers and leaves, and fragrance and texture to the ponds and waterways.
This festival is attended by hundreds of photographers, horticulturalists, and artists from Florida and beyond. Our Annual Waterlily Celebration provides us with an opportunity to educate our members and guests about the various species, variety of colors, growing periods and blooming frequencies. Our plant experts will be available throughout the day to answer any questions. Guests can attend hands-on repotting demonstrations, browse a variety of plants available for sale, as well as vintage home and garden accents. In addition, the Garden will have several plein air artists creating original works throughout the Garden.
Each year McKee Botanical Garden holds its Annual Waterlily Photo Contest, which coincides with the event. The contest is free to enter and open to McKee members as well as the general public. Registration is now open. Photo Contest Guidelines 2018 Categories include Color, Black and White, Manipulated and Youth. Youth-Photo-Contest-Guidelines-2018.
