Join us on Saturday, June 20, 2020 for the 16th Annual Waterlily Celebration at McKee Botanical Garden.  Enjoy the centerpiece of McKee’s horticulture collection during the 16th Annual Waterlily Celebration. The ponds and waterways throughout the Garden are adorned with over 80 varieties and over 300 potted and 100 free-range plants including night and day-blooming varieties. This event also features hands-on repotting demonstrations, plant sales (bromeliads, orchids, succulents, aquatic plants and garden accents). Guests will also have an opportunity to enjoy plein air artists creating original works of art, speaking with our plant experts throughout the day, and viewing the photos from the annual waterlily photo contest on display in the Hall of Giants.

McKee Botanical Garden is currently accepting photo submissions for the 16th Annual Waterlily Photo Contest in conjunction with the Annual Waterlily Celebration through Thursday, June 11.  Photos must be of waterlilies and lotus photographed at McKee Botanical Garden in 2019 or 2020 with a film, digital camera, or electronic device.  Participants may submit one photo in each of three style categories:  Color, Black and White, and Manipulated. A complete list of rules with the entry form can be found at  Photos will be judged by a panel of judges on Friday, June 19.  All submissions will be on display in the Historic Hall of Giants during the Annual Waterlily Celebration on June 20, and visitors will have an opportunity to cast their vote for the “People’s Choice” award during this event. In addition, Vero Vine is hosting a separate online contest for the “People’s Choice” award.  Photographers will submit a digital image for upload to for the community’s vote.  If you do not have a digital image, Vero Vine will take a photo of your actual photograph for you.  This contest will run through June 30, 2020. The winning People’s Choice photo will be recognized along with the first, second and third place winners and an honorable mention winner in each categories.

General admission rates apply:  $15 Adults, $13 Seniors, $10 Children ages 2-12.  McKee members and children under 2 free.

The Garden will open early at 8:30 am for this event so that our members and visitors can enjoy the opportunity to see some of the night-blooming varieties before they retreat.

Hours:  8:30 am – 2:00 pm.  (This event will end at 2:00 pm, however, the Garden will remain open until 5 pm.  The last admission ticket is sold at 4 pm).

COVID-19 Alert

While we had hoped to remain open, in an abundance of caution and concern for the safety of our staff with regard to the Corona virus (COVID-19), we are closing the Garden until further notice. Please check back here or follow us on Social Media for additional updates.

All Garden activities, classes and programs, and guided tours are canceled through April 1st. The 3rd Annual Garden & Antique Show and Sale which was scheduled for this weekend, March 20-22, has been canceled.
