Sea Critters Mixed Media Art – Family Event
May 2, 2020 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm$12.00 – $15.00
Sea Critters Mixed Media Art Workshop
Members $12.00 per child / Non-Members $15.00 per child
This adorable workshop is inspired by the colorful art forms created by the artists of Ocean Sole in Kenya, Africa, on display at McKee starting in November. These artists create their ocean animals from the foam soles of discarded flip flops that wash up on their beaches. McKee’s exhibition invites families to explore and learn about the marine life that live in our waters and how we can help in their conservation and preservation.
For this mixed-media workshop, we will use foam to create a 3-dimensional sea critter. Participants will have a choice of critter templates, so no need to stress about drawing abilities. The background, using canvas panel board, will consist of paint and some real sand for texture. Decorative materials such as shells, beads or sequins will also be available. Come join the fun for this “Soleful” art experience! Please note: At least one adult per family must attend. All materials will be supplied.
