Instructor: Barb Kaytes
Barbara is an Approved Design Judge with the Garden Club of America. She has judged on the national level for the past 10 years and has exhibited on the international stage as a floral designer. She has multiple GCA awards to her credit. Along with her interest in Western design, she has been studying the art of Ikebana for 12 years…. a lifelong pursuit. She has achieved the second highest level of Sanyo and began teaching several years ago. Her Ikebana work has appeared in the Japanese Room of the Sackler Gallery at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and at multiple spaces in the New York metropolitan area. While honoring the ancient tradition of Japanese floral design, which is steeped in discipline and precision, she overlays her knowledge of Western design to create an exciting hybrid of the two cultures.
