“RETURN OF THE DINOSAUR INVASION” ROARS INTO MCKEE
October 31, 2009 - March 31, 2010

Millions of years after becoming extinct, the giants of the prehistoric age will reign again at McKee Botanical Garden. The family-friendly “Return of the Dinosaur Invasion” brings back McKee’s popular 2007 exhibit, with two giant additions: a 53-inch-long bronze T. rex skull and a flying Quetzalcoatlus with a 39-foot wingspan. “Return of the Dinosaur Invasion” will be on display from October 31 through March 31.

“We’re thrilled to have the dinosaurs back,” says Executive Director Christine Hobart. “There’s a lot of focus right now on family time and family entertainment, and this exhibit fits that perfectly. It’s fun, it’s educational and it’s a one-of-a-kind experience.”

Species featured in “Return of the Dinosaur Invasion” include Tyrannosaurus rex, Velociraptor, Apatosaurus (Brontosaurus), Edmontosaurus, Dimetrodon, Placerias, Kritosaurus, Daspletosaur, Compsognathus, Bambiraptor, Syntarsus, Sordes, Rhamphorhynchus, Quetzalcoatlus, Postosuchus and Oviraptor. Each exhibit provides information on the dinosaur’s name, diet, anatomy and discovery.

The “Invasion” also contains prehistoric plants that coexisted with the dinosaurs, a Dino Dig Site - where children can unearth more than 15 dinosaur bones - and an expansive nest containing 75 “dinosaur eggs.” The eggs can be purchased and customized for $1,000 each to help fund the exhibit; they will presented to sponsors at its conclusion.

“Return of the Dinosaur Invasion” is sponsored by Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers and the “AT&T Real Yellow Pages.”

General admission fees apply.
