Join us for a day of enchantment and adventure! McKee Botanical Garden announces its Seventh Annual Fairy and Pirate Festival to be held on Saturday, May 13 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.  Children will delight in the mythical wonder and fascination of the Garden as it transforms into an enchanted land of fairies and pirates.

Are you a believer?  Fairies live in harmony with nature, safely hidden and concealed from human eyes.  Whether you desire to catch a glimpse into the magical kingdom of fairies in the Garden or if you are a swashbuckling pirate in search of booty hidden in the pirate pathways of McKee, come celebrate the beauty and wonder of nature in an imaginative surrounding at this family-themed festival.  Search for fairy hideouts among the leafy foliage, tree tops , pathways and ponds of McKee.  Create your own fairy house made of nature’s gifts harvested from the Garden.  Fairies will enjoy getting their faces painted and a fairy manicure, while the landlubbers will relish in the adventure of searching for hidden treasure and getting a pirate tattoo. Additional themed activities include face painting, crafts, ring toss games, dancing around the maypole and writing a wish at the wishing bush.

New this year!  SmileCloudsUSA will entertain guests with its whimsical variety of clouds in the shape of flowers, butterflies, fairies, birds and more.  Made from environmentally friendly materials, these slowly rising clouds will travel thousands of feet in the air and many miles before dissipating.  They leave no remnants, only great memories.  All ages will enjoy watching these billowy clouds float up, up and away!

Also new this year, children can have a strand of glittery fairy hair woven into their own hair by the Glittering Gypsies and Michael Van Ness will perform magic tricks throughout the day!

From near or far, come as you are!  Costumes are encouraged but not required. McKee’s Pixie Boutique will have fairy and pirate accessories available for purchase.
